Liliya Galabova was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in 1991. Her first introduction to Spanish culture occurred still in Bulgaria, where she studied at the Bilingual Institute Miguel de Cervantes. This experience led her to choose Spain as a country to pursue her career.
In 2010 she moved to Madrid to study Product Design at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED). The summers of 2010 and 2011 she spent in Barcelona, doing an internship at the industrial design studio Design Code. She also did a 3-month internship at the Alvaro Catalan de Ocón Studio in Madrid, in 2014.
Liliya is specializing in Home Design, but up to date has completed several projects of social and urban character. She is also interested in jewelry design and her first collection, Experiment, is soon to be presented to the public.
During her university years, she has participated in the exhibition Recycle Madrid, held in 2011 at Cosmo Caixa building. Moreover, in 2012 she won a competition for the Corte Inglés, where, together with other fellow-students from the IED, developed a stand for these well known department stores in the Spanish capital. At the beginning of 2013 she was selected for a contest sponsored by Japan Tobacco International and her project, in collaboration with Mirian Miguel, won a Special Mention and was exposed at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Italy. In the beginning of 2015, her final project for obtaining a Bachelor Degree – Orikomi, won a 3rd place in the Nyova Design Competition. It is expected to be produced and made available by the brand later in 2015.
